Study on computer based system in Bangladesh

Introduction:
A computer is an electronic machine than can quickly do calculation, store rearrange and retrieve information, on control other machines. Computer is being used in education sector. Computer education has been introduced at school, college and university levels, on the other hand are being used in classrooms, library, laboratory everywhere everyday. So computer is very important for our educational system.

When computer came in Bangladesh:

The first computer in Bangladesh was installed in 1968. In September 1979 an IBM4331 Mainframe computer were introduced at the Bangladesh niversity of Engineering and Technology and BUET computer centre was also established. This computer center has been playing a pioneering role in imparting computer education in Bangladesh and disserminating computer technology in the country. Than, Alomic energy research establishment (AERE) at savar installed an IBM 4341 Mainframe computer in 1981. The Dhaka University computer centre began its journey with an IBM 4331 Mainframe computer in 1985. However , wider use of computer in Bangladesh accelerated from the midnineties. Innovation of Bangla software Bangla writing in computer was first materialized in 1987 and an engineer namely Mainul Islam deserved the claim of the success. He managed to write bangla in Apple –Macintosh computer using his self – evolved font ainulipi . In this pursuit the conventional English keboard was used ithout sing any separate key board for Bangla. Next year, in 1988 the interface Bijoy useable in apple –Macintosh computer was built under the auspices of a non government organization Anando computer. In the Interface echnique, the bangle keyboard is attached with the operating system of the computer and Bangla is inscribed in the computer by activating this keyboard and selecting a Bangla front. And by the by exportable software development in Bangladesh commenced in 1995 while exportable multimedia system evelopment began in 1997.

Use of internet and e-mail:

Though the use of internet world wide spread rapidly in 1990. Bangladesh joined the bandwagon much leter. Use of internet in the country started in 1995 for the first time in a limited way though offline e-mail . VAST ( Very Small Aperture Terminal) was first set up in 1996 for internet purpose. owever online internet facilities are now also availave outside Dhaka in cities like , Chittagong , Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi , Bagura, and Cox’sBazar. With the establishment of online internet service a new horizon has been opened in the field of education, research ,business and entertainment. Some educational institutions training centers and business houses of the country started setting up Local Area Network (LAN) from the beginning of the 1990s. Among then Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Rajshahi University and Bangladesh Open University have set up high standard optical fiber LAN backbone for Internal communication. Subsequently Dhaka University and BUET were brought under this network through radio link in 1999. The other universities have not yet been brought under this network directly but they can be connected dial up.

Use of computer in Bangladesh:
Use of computer in Bangladesh today Computer is being used in research and educational institutions, government and private organizations ,business concerns and most important use of com - puter place is that computer education. Computer education: The institutional computer educational began in Bangl - desh in 1984 with the founding of the Computer Science and Engineering Department in BUET. The Computer Science Department at Dhaka Univer - sity was established on 1st September 1992. At present departments for computer education have been open in the most government and non- gover - ment universities in the country as well as in four BITS (Bangladesh Insti - tute of Technology).Computer science course has also been opened at Honours level in a number of colleges affiliated with the National Univer - sity. Computer education has been included in the syllabus as higher second - dary level since 1991and that of secondary level since 1994. Many local computer training institutes are conducting training programmers jointly with various foreign universities and institutes.

ICT Education system in Bangladesh:
ICT means that Information in Computer Technology. This system is very important for our education Place. Because, technology has given birth to the information age. Now it is up to all of us to build an information society. From trade to telemedicine, from education to environmental protection, we have in our hands, on our desktops and in the skies above the ability to improve standards of living for millions upon millions people.

The use of computer in libraries:
Libraries in Bangladesh have Realized the value and importance of computerization in order to improve their services to user. Even though computer system have been introduced since 1964 to government departments and the private sectors libraries have only begun to use computers by the beginning of the 1980s. In Bangladesh computers are used in libraries mainly for creating bibliographic database and word processing other wise library and information science schools should develop special training programmers for library staff on the use of Computers in libraries. Also libraries should also develop a centralised database to include all documents and sources of information available in the country in order to support scientific research and studies, and to provide decision makers easy access to needed to be linked with other international networks. And we can say that the libraries will, therefore have to play an increasing important role in functioning as information servers.

Conclusion:
Computer is one of the wonders of modern science. Computer has made our life easier and enjoyable. Kids prefer pictures and Sounds to text . In that edge computers are the most suitable tools to teach Kids using graphics and sounds. Most schools in developed world have Computer facilities for kids who are encourage to use them . This helps Develop their creativity and thoughts. Many kindergarten schools in our Country have started to follow the trend. Some software makes are producing good software for kids.
